Take time to complete your enrollment form. The more detail you provide, the more likely you are to make a successful mentoring match.
Give context to your mentoring profile by including a brief bio and profile picture. You can also upload the link to your LinkedIn profile page if you have one.
Typically, mentees search for prospective mentors (although it can be the other way around). Give some thought to your search options. You can select as many as you would like, but understand that the narrower your search parameters, the fewer results you will receive.
3. Send a mentoring request.
Click the green button on the person's profile page to send a mentoring request. Include a personal message sharing a bit about yourself and what you are looking for in a mentoring relationship.
4. Accept/decline mentoring request.
Review the sender's profile to see if the relationship might be a good fit, and accept or decline the request. Senders will receive an email notification in either case.
5. Set up a discovery call.
If the request has been accepted, it's time to set up a discovery call! Schedule a day/time to meet and, if it's a good fit, discuss the terms of mentorship. If for whatever reason you decide not to match, please indicate "Abandon Relationship" via the yellow dropdown menu on your
Mentoring Relationships page.
6. Agree on terms of mentorship.
Agree on when, where, how often you will meet? Who will set up the meetings? How long will the meetings last? What is the best way to reach each other? How do you want the mentoring relationship organized?
7. Meet as agreed.
Be sure to follow through on the terms of mentorship. Meet as you have agreed and make updates to the terms as needed. Visit our
Resources page for tips and strategies to keep the relationship on track.
8. Bring the relationship to a successful close.
Visit our
Resources page for guidance on when and how to bring your mentoring relationship to a mutually beneficial end. Don't forget to update your
Mentoring Relationships page to indicate the relationship has ended. (Note that the system automatically marks relationships as ended after six months. If you would like to continue with the mentoring relationship, you can update your mentoring status accordingly.)
9. Evaluate your mentoring relationship.
Help us improve the mentoring experience by completing a brief survey at the end of your mentoring relationship.
