About RISA

The Rhode Island Society of Anesthesiologists (RISA) serves the Rhode Island Community as an advocate for the delivery of competent and safe care to all patients requiring anesthesia and pain relief. RISA is an educational, networking and advocacy professional membership organization of physicians.

RISA is a component society of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, is represented on the Council of the Rhode Island Medical Society, and represents the profession on various state regulatory agencies.

RISA President, Christopher Malgieri, MD, recognizes Fred Rotenberg for 37 years of service to the patients of Rhode Island.

For the Winter meeting held at the Capital Grille, Providence, RISA invited Michael Fitzsimons, MD, Division Chief, Cardiac Anesthesia, Director, Substance Use Disorder Program, Massachusetts General Hospital, to speak about drug diversion and mandatory drug testing.

Honorary Senator Josh Miller spoke with RISA members about the importance of getting involved with advocacy in the state of Rhode Island.
