The Tennessee Society has a strong commitment to the residents in the two anesthesiology programs located in Knoxville and Nashville. Every year selected residents from these programs join other TSA members at the ASA Legislative Conference, and the Tennessee delegate delegation is usually one of the largest attending from any state.
In addition, TSA sends resident delegates to the American Society of Anesthesiologists Annual Resident Component meeting in the Fall. In recent years we have supported two residents seeking national office in the Resident Component Governing Council. Currently on the 2015-2016 ASA Resident Component Governing Council is Chad Greene, M.D. a resident of Vanderbilt University. He was elected as the council’s secretary.
Residents are also encouraged to participate at the TSA Annual Meeting each February. In the past, poster sessions have been held in-between speaker sessions. This allows the resident to showcase research completed during residency.
