The Alabama State Society of Anesthesiologists (ASSA) represents over 400 anesthesiologists in the State of Alabama whose interest is in the safety of our patients who undergo anesthesia, pain management, and critical care under our care daily. 

The Mission of the ASSA is to associate and affiliate into one organization all of the reputable doctors of medicine in the State of Alabama who are engaged in the practice of, or otherwise specifically interested in anesthesiology;  to encourage specialization in this field; to raise the standards of the specialty by fostering and encouraging continuing medical education, research and scientific progress in anesthesiology; to disseminate information in regard to anesthesiology; to promote the highest level of patient safety through the general elevation of the standards of the medical specialty; to safeguard the professional interest of its members and in all ways develop and further the specialty of anesthesiology.
